# Resting capacity and limits

The resting capacity tile is found in the Overview tab, just below the Subscription tile, and can display three states:

* **Resting is disabled** - contact Nuvolos support to enable it.
* **Resting is enabled in pay-as-you-go mode** - your resource pool is charged daily in Credits based on the resting storage footprint.
* **Resting is included in the subscription** - at renewal time, you can prepay for resting capacity. Storage below the limit is free; overage is charged daily in Credits.

### **Tracking consumption**

The Resting capacity tile shows the total resting storage footprint across all spaces in the pool. The metric updates daily:

* **Increases** when spaces are put to rest.
* **Decreases** when spaces are woken (data moves back to the Nuvolos file system).

{% hint style="info" %}
Resource pool managers can click DETAILS for usage trends over time. This opens Plan utilization with the date range preset to the current limit period.
{% endhint %}

### **What defines a resting limit**

* Resting limit (capacity) - the storage amount allocated for the subscription period. Pay-as-you-go users see their actual footprint instead of a fixed allocation.
* Resting limit term start - when the limit becomes active (contract start or renewal date).
* Resting limit term end - when the limit expires (subscription period end date).

### What happens when you exceed your resting capacity

Once you exceed your prepaid resting limit, daily credit deductions begin automatically - the same as pay-as-you-go mode. To avoid overage charges, delete old spaces that are no longer needed. Each day, we charge for storage above your limit. Check the [prices page](https://app.nuvolos.cloud/service-prices) for current resting storage rates.
