I can't edit an instance

If you're having problems editing an instance, here are some potential causes you might want to examine:

  • You do not have the permission to edit an instance

In order to edit an instance, you must have an instance editor role or be a space administrator. If you don't have the necessary role to edit an instance, you can contact the space administrator to grant you an instance editor role, or they can edit the instance for you.

  • You are trying to edit the Master or Distributed instance.

The Master and Distributed instances are primary instances that must exist for each space. Their names and descriptions cannot be edited to maintain consistency across the platform.

  • The edit button is not visible or clickable.

Make sure you are viewing the INSTANCES tab in the Course Users (or Project Users) section. The pencil icon to edit an instance appears next to each instance in the list. If you don't see it, you may not have the required permissions.

  • You have lost connection to the internet.

If you lose your internet connection, your request to edit an instance might not be received by the server. Make sure you restore your connection, refresh the page, and try to edit the instance again.

  • There has been a server-side error and the instance update request was not properly processed by Nuvolos.

In some cases, it might happen that a server-side error occurs such that the instance update request is not processed properly by Nuvolos. Please wait for some time and then try to edit the instance again.
